OGP Global Summit 2019 Youth Delegates

It’s been over two years since we’ve last posted on Medium. Although we haven’t been spending our time writing 32-minute reads (yes, we really did this!), don’t worry, we’ve been busy. Now we’re back and ready to bring you the latest stories from our global community of open government reformers.

Since 2017, our partnership has expanded to 79 national members and a growing number of local members, now representing more than 2 billion people around the world, plus thousands of non-government stakeholders, including civil society organizations, academia and the private sector. Since we last wrote, we’ve hosted global summits in Georgia and Canada and our member countries have made more than 1,000 new open government commitments! We have also launched two initiatives including CitizENGAGE, a platform that shares the stories of everyday citizens working with their local governments to make impactful changes in their communities, and — Break the Rolesa campaign asking the open government community to more meaningfully engage with underrepresented and previously excluded groups.

Through these events, campaigns and commitments, we are constantly learning and evolving. To keep this momentum and spirit of collaboration growing, we recognize the need to share fresh ideas from open government thought leaders, while also bringing new voices into our platforms.

In that vein, we want to engage with you! The open government community seeks to confront democracy’s most pressing issues — from the lack of access to justice to widespread corruption to gender inequality and marginalization — that hold us all back. Follow us on Medium as we share the perspectives and stories of the creative reformers paving the way for more inclusive, accountable, responsive, and transparent governments around the world.
